Oh! Sweet Nectar Part Deux

In a followup to my Hint & MetroMint post a while back, I thought I would add that MetroMint has MetroMint ChocolateMintput out a new flavor. It's ChocolateMint. And it's friggin' divine. You might think it does not sound refreshing, but you would be oh-so-incorrect. It's very nice, light, and cool. Perhaps a good way to think of it is... it tastes like drinking a MetroMint Peppermint water after you've finished a chocolate bar (probably dark). I saw it on their website, and yes, the dork in me ordered a 5-pack to check it out. A couple weeks later, and it's already in my local H.E.B. I love my H.E.B. They are quite quick to carry some unusual stuff. Another water I've just Ayaladiscovered from my latest grocery store trek is Ayala's Herbal Water. OMG, delish! I've only tried two flavors so far, but I think I'm hooked. I've had their jasmine vanilla & cloves cardamom cinnamon. The ccc one was a bit strong in flavor (according to Mikey), but I loved it. Very different, very natural tasting, and plenty sweet enough without actually using any sweetener. The jasmine vanilla was a bit lighter in flavor. They also have lemongrass mint vanilla, lavender mint lemongrass thyme, cinnamon orange peel, & ginger lemon peel. I can't wait to try them all. Another bonus about Ayala is they are a carbon neutral company. Can you get much better than that?

Socially

I finished my script. I called it Socially. It's about a girl that is on the verge of agoraphobia, but after much therapy is at a better place. She finally takes the plunge and hosts an event at her house, only to have no one show up. Thus, throwing her back into the old headspace, and finalizing the agoraphobia. I was really worried about the feedback I was going to get. I mean, you don't want to be told you have to basically start over or anything. I just got the notes on my script back, and I have to say I'm really pleased. Great advice, and I honestly felt like overall she viewed it as a solid start. Now, on to the rewrite. You get over the stress of one thing, only to have it replaced with a new one. Such is life :D

From Script-to-Screen

Rob's birthday was this past Sunday. The whole fam pitched in and we signed him (and me!) up for Kat Candler's Script to Screen class held at The Austin School of Film downtown. We started class this past Tuesday, and it was most excellent. There were 18 people there I think, and quite a different bunch of people. That is actually one of the reasons I wanted to take it besides the film aspect -- meeting new people. This first week's assignment is kinda stressing me out! I knew that we had to write a script the first week, but I just thought it would just be like POP! or VOILA! in da head, and magically appear on the page or something. Hard as hell. I think I could probably write a full feature easier than a 5-minute short. It's intense. I think I finally figured out something to write about last night. I whipped up 2 pages in about an hour too. So, I'm finally beginning to feel some hope. I'm not really caring if I make this or not. I really just want to make a film, I don't necessarily care if it's mine. At least, not yet anyway. At the end of class, on April 26th, we will be screening our films at Dobie. The thought makes me kinda nauseous.

VroomVroom

So, a couple weekends ago, Mike bought a ginormous motorcycle. Now, you're brain is probably having a hard time processing this information. It seems so un-Mike really. But, it's so damn exciting. He can't wait until the weather gets better so he can actually ride. He only just got his license the week after buying the bike, so he's itching.

My life with a fuqd up achilles

I always seem to have such a hard time figuring out what to post. There are random times while driving or doing some other mundane thing where 15 things pop up in my head that I could write about. Of course, I forget every one of those things when it comes to sitting down and writing. So, kinda random, but at least it's something. I have an injury. It was diagnosed as calcified achilles tendonitis. Sounds gross to me. But apparently it's nothing that can't be made better with some expensive Physical Therapy. I guess a few bucks are better than needing surgery or something. My Physical Therapist said it's like having toothpaste in the tendon. Yah, that makes it sound less gross, blech. I'm on my second week of PT and it's a lot easier than I was expecting. I was thinking of having some sort of personal drill sargeant telling me everything I was doing wasn't good enough, not hard enough. Wow, I could not have been more wrong. Apparently, for tendons/ligaments, you don't want a lot of weight involved at all. And as soon as it hurts, you stop. See, this might be where I probably made the issue worse. I originally started having an issue with this after a Body Combat class. I just thought it was from that particular area not being worked out in that manner before, so I kept going to Body Combat thinking it would eventually "stretch" out. I got sick with bronchitis, and that gave me a 2ish week break on Body Combat, and my heel started feeling better. I went back to Body Combat, and as soon as it was over, it hurt like hell. This is about when I realized that Body Combat was causing issues more likely than it was helping issues. I still went a few more times, cuz it might be crazy hard, but it is really fun. The instructor is also insanely awesome. LOVE her! Now I've been told I can't do that, or the treadmill, or upright bikes. I can only do the recumbent bikes and elliptical for cardio stuff. AND no longer can I do an hour of cardio like I used to. I can only do a max of 20 mins or until it starts to hurt, whichever is first. There are some leg weight exercises I can't do anymore either -- calf extensions (which I was doing quite a bit cuz I thought it would stretch out that achilles, heh) and leg press. I was given a sort of modified leg press I can do. Kinda sucks, cuz I liked the leg press. The only strong thing about me is my legs, so I can rock out on some leg press. Not anymore, though. I was also given things to do a couple times a day on my own, and I've not been so good about that. Before I even get out of bed in the morning, I'm supposed to do these stretches with a towel. I think I've managed to do them about half the time. Most of the time when I wake up it's cuz I have the raging urge to pee, so it's a little difficult to stop and do 3 minutes of stretches. I need Mike's help with this one stretch I have to do, so I only seem to do that at night. I'm also supposed to use a rubber ball to do these stretches about a minute before I get up out of my chair. I ask you, do you know about a minute before you are going to need to get up out of your chair? It's just weird. Anyhoo... boring, but an update. .

PMS this, bitch

Why is it that when a female is in a bad mood, males just shrug it off with comments like "Oh, it must be that time of the month, huh?". It couldn't possibly be because the female is simply in a bad mood or had a bad day. Now, I will say that men and women deal with bad days in a different way. Me, for example, I am very vocal about it. Thus the snide fuckin' comments from men about PMS and such. Assholes.

Ho-Ho-Holidays

Sorry for the lag in updates. My brother turned out to be my Secret Santa, but my mom still managed to give me something -- a vicious cold. At least I didn't get it until the day before she left here. I didn't realize how bad she was feeling while she was here until I had it myself. That woman cooked for two whole days feeling like complete butt. Of course she didn't say a thing. She made it seem like it was just allergies or something. For me, at some points, it felt like too much work to lay on the couch and stare at the TV. I do feel a bit better, I can now breathe through one nostril. So, besides my recent misery, we had a pretty great Christmas. Mike and I picked my parents up at the airport and we made a quick stop to the farmer's market. It was so insanely windy that day that it was quite the task to walk around, but we managed. We then met up with my brother and his wife at the Maudie's on 360. Very tasty, good times. Usually our get togethers can be filled with so much planned that it feels rushed and it's over in an instant. We managed to do a pretty good job at chillin' this time. We did do a few great things, but we mostly just spent time together. Some of our events included the Trans-Siberian Orchestra dinner & concert, where dinner was disgusting, and I was pretty mad we paid so much for it. Won't do that again. The concert was excellent, almost made up for the gross food. We also went to The Melting Pot. I really like this place, I think it's a lot of fun. Apparently, I'm alone in this regard. Not quite the hit I was hoping for. The day they left, we went to Dim Sum. I have had some Dim Sum in the past, and it was OK, but this place was pretty good. It was down south and in some hotel. Hardly looks like anything on the outside, but it was pretty good. Ok, that's all I got in me at the moment. Hopefully, as I start to feel better, I'll be chattier.
