Mike and I celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary today. It was a subtle affair but very relaxing and fun. After work, I chilled out a bit, and then took a slight nap. Mike woke me up when he got home and said "hurry, hurry, we need to leave for dinner now!" When I was finally awake enough to comprehend anything, he presented me with a gorgeous bouquet of red, yellow, and peach roses. I can't remember the last time I had roses. Even though they might be the overused flower of choice among mail suitors, sometimes you just cannot go wrong. These are so beautiful and smell delicious! I quickly dressed and we headed across the highway to The Melting Pot for our 7:15pm reservation. This was my 3rd visit, and Mike's 2nd. I love going there. It's such an experience.
We ordered a bottle of Kim Crawford Unoaked Chardonnay. I've been really digging the Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc, so I thought what the heck. The Unoaked was equally yumyum. For our first course, we started with the Wisconsin Trio cheese course which includes, Fontina, Butterkase, and Buttermilk Bleu cheeses. This cheese is divine. I'm a bleu cheese bitch, so I'm easy that way. Part way through that we got a California Salad, which included Gorgonzola cheese, which I also adore. For our main course we chose the Seafood Trio (salmon, shrimp, scallops) and the Vegetarian (artichoke, tofu, mushrooms, eggplant, artichoke hearts). We discovered quickly that we really only needed to choose one. Mike ate a couple shrimp, but otherwise didn't touch the seafood. I did try to make up for that though :D We ended our evening with the Dark Chocolate with Raspberry Puree dessert course. Dippers included bananas, strawberries, cheesecake, graham cracker coated marshmallows, oreo coated marshmallows, and pound cake. I thought I wouldn't be able to make it all the way through, but the way things are paced really helped. The whole dinner took us a little over 3 hours.
For any of the girlies that I know, we need to find us a reason to go and have us a ladies shindig. This is a great place for a social gathering, and I need some good ol' fashion ladies time. Have your people call my people. Or yanno, email me :D
